Christina Leas: Intrinsic Motivation
Here is an interesting take on the theories behind motivation. We just learned about instinctive, biological, cognitive, psychoanalytical... but what about spiritual? These "Laws of Motivation" come from the philosophy of Kabbalah, a branch of Judaism. However, it reminds me a lot of the 5 Noble truths from Buddhism that we learned in world history.
This view seems to imply that all extrinsic motivation will ultimately leave us dissatisfied and that the only thing that will keep us truly happy is fulfilling intrinsic motivation. It then claims that the purest form of intrinsic motivation is to help others. So go and be nice to someone today!
